Microsoft’s Vision for Future Productivity
November 12th, 2011From Microsoft’s Office YouTube Channel:
Watch how future technology will help people make better use of their time, focus their attention, and strengthen relationships while getting things done at work, home, and on the go. (Release: 2011)
There are some interesting concepts in the video involving augmented reality (adding visualizations to one’s environment), new user interfaces and user collaboration, and “Web 3.0″ style communication: where relevant information finds the user at the appropriate time (an intelligent filtering of the overwhelming information now being generated by “Web 2.0″ technologies such as social media). The Fastest Way To Grow a YouTube Audience
October 28th, 2011
I joined YouTube in 2005, back when it was cool and you could actually find interesting content. At the time, I was most interested in indie-acoustic guitar covers and performances of aspiring artists.

As you talk, your little darling types or toggles. “Are you listening to me?” you ask, only to be told in a precocious tone: “Yeahhhh. I’m multitasking, Mum.” Read more »

April 11th, 2011
Two separate reports on social media marketing were released this week with – on the surface, at least – what seem like diametrically opposite results.

Brand exposure was identified as the greatest benefit, with 88 percent of respondents citing it as a positive result of their social media campaigns. Read more »

Social Media Analytics & Internet Marketing
February 16th, 2011As social media keeps providing new marketing opportunities, in addition to a way for online users to simply pass the time, the need for social analytics is becoming more pressing.
Utilizing reporting tools that are available online today can help Internet marketers continue to shape their social media strategy and overall online interaction methods.
Some of the most important metrics to track when it comes to social media include the ROI – how time spent marketing on sites like Facebook and Twitter translates into revenue for the company – and the growth and interaction factors surrounding a company’s online profiles and communities.
Any metric can be broken down into granular parts for a closer look or to add quantitative micro-metrics to an overarching qualitative metric. For example, the number of links acquired on shared or viral content pages via social media is a key factor for the SEO-minded. Read more »
The 5 Reasons Most Companies Aren’t Measuring Social Media
February 9th, 2011
We hate math.
Our abhorrence for calculation enables us to mutually agree on statistically dubious metrics with nary a shrug or arched eyebrow.
