About Situated Research...

Situated Research evaluates the user experience in situ, or in the actual environments where products are used. Our techniques uncover user practices and behaviors that suggest ways in which technology is expected to behave. These insights will allow you to create spot-on, easy-to-use solutions that balance aesthetics with functionality.

We do 'in-situ' User-eXperience (UX) research.

  • Why 'in-situ'? By studying users in their natural settings, we gain insight into actual uses rather than 'uses in a lab'.
  • Why UX? By incorporating user research into the design process, you're insured that their needs are met. This allows them to work productively, efficiently, and happily.
  • Why research users? McAfee anti-virus software recently cut its customer-support costs by 90% after incorporating UX research into their product. Side effects included happier users and a larger market share.

Co-founded by Dr. and Mrs. Matthew Sharritt, Situated Research is dedicated to exploring how technology can become more accessible and aims to help software designers innovate ways to communicate with and engage their customers and end-users. Our "situated" approach means that we study the entire environment in which cognitive and social interactions occur (see Wikipedia for an overview of situated cognition).
